SatNav, Survey of India announce strategic tie-up

Mumabai, August 10: SatNav Technologies today announced a strategic tie-up to use Survey of India (SOI) maps and build value-added products for consumers.

The agreement allows SatNav to release the SOI-approved digital maps and custom map content within the public domain for commercial use in a range of navigation and location-based solutions in the mobile and personal navigation system, a press release issued here said.

The company also announced the release of an enhanced map data which covers 404 cities and 16 lakh Point of Interest (POI).

The enhanced maps would have features like more POI content, accuracy, road network validation, gap in median and turn restrictions. The maps are constantly enhanced and efforts are on to grow this to 500 cities, and six-lakh villagers pan-India.

“The strategic tie-up with SOI will instill more confidence in our existing clients and partners and will give us an edge over others. We are constantly building navigation applications keeping in mind our end-users and expect to meet the growing market demand for navigation, map and location-based services and technologies,” SatNav Technologies’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Amit Prasad, said.
