Sardar Patel stopped Hyderabad from becoming another Muslim nation

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Telangana president Dr. K. Lakshman on Sunday praised the role played by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in merger of ertswhile Hyderabad State into Indian Union.

Speaking after felicitating the actors who worked in a Telugu film on last Nizam of Hyderabad, Lakshman said people of Hyderabad would remain indebted to Sardar Patel for his role in ending Nizam’s Kingdom. He said although India achieved independence on August 15, 1947, it was only after 13 months and two days that the people of Hyderabad could call themselves Indian.

He also recalled the role played by Arya Samaj and Andhra Maha Sabha who fought against the then Nizam Government.

The BJP chief also criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for not organising Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 at official level.
