Bhopal, June 22: Controversial godman Sant Lal Sai, accused in a rape case, surrendered in a women’s court here today, police said.
Lal Sai has a sprawling ashram at Bairagarh on the outskirts of the State capital and several stories of miracles are linked with him.
A woman disciple of Lal Sai registered a case of rape against her guru on October 18, 2008.
The victim alleged that she was made to consume some drug like substance by one of the woman disciple of Lal Sai and when she became unconscious the saint sexually assaulted her. She also alleged that in the name of spiritual realisation her guru sexually exploited her for long.
Earlier, referring to a court order, Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police S K Raut also said Lal Sai would be arrested soon.
