NEW DELHI: Sanjiv Bhatt is being targeted because he spoke truth before Nanavati commission about perpetrators of 2002-Gujarat pogrom. It was the only reason that the current regime is after him, this regime wants to discredit him by implicating him in a 30 years old case he has nothing to do with, this regime could even eliminate him, said Shweta Bhatt, the wife of jailed IPS officer during in a press conference organized by the rights body, National Confederation of Human Rights Organizations (NCHRO) at the Press Club of India in the national capital here on Sunday
“I want my Sanjiv back home. They have political power to oppress the voices of dissent. We want people’s power to get justice. It is not the issue of Sanjiv’s family; it’s related to all of us. Today it is Sanjiv; tomorrow anybody could be the target including you. Come on the streets; raise your voice louder for justice”, she appealed to the nation.
“We wonder that the high profile criminals such as Babu Bajrangi, Maya Kodnani and so on were very leniently given bail by the courts of law. Then why not bail for my father, who served for the nation. If the constructed injustice prevails at all levels, where do we go? That’s why we come to the people; come to the media. We don’t want any favour from the justice delivery system; we want justice to be served us, in a fair manner.” Said Shantanu Bhatt , the son of Sanjiv.”
There is no iota of evidence, in which Sanjiv was convicted. The conduct of case is arbitrary, unjust and unfair” said Adv. K.P. Mohamad Shareef, Vice-Chairperson of NCHRO.
We should read ‘Between the Lines’ , a system just to be in power is trying to suppress the honest voices and the conviction of Sanjiv Bhatt in a false case is just an example of that motive. I request to all justice loving people to come on roads and raise your voice against injustice and support Sanjiv who is an icon of justice, said Deepika S Rajawat, the lawyer of Asifa case.
Abdul Wahid Sait, National Secretary of Popular Front of India (PFI) and Prof. Nandita Narayana of Delhi University also addressed the media persons.
