Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat to release on January 25

Mumbai: After the long wait and a continuous drag due to multiple reasons, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat to be finally released on January 25.

CBFC had issued a U/A certification to the film after it was screened in presence of a special committee. The board had also suggested some modifications including a change in its title from ‘Padmavati’ to ‘Padmavat’.

However, the film will clash with the release of R. Balki’s Padman, that stars Akshay Kumar in lead role.

“On Friday, the Central Bureau of Film Certification (CBFC) granted Padmavat a U/A certification. The certified runtime of the Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoorstarrer is 2 hours and 43 minutes (163 minutes),” a source close to the development told Mumbai Mirror.

“In the decision of the CBFC, some parts of advice do find a reflection, but as iterated, the final decision for certification is with the CBFC committee which has taken a pragmatic and balanced view. Unnecessary controversy should not be made out of it,” CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi had said.
