Bangalore, August 15: The president, vice-president and deputy general manager of a private hospitality firm have been arrested by the CCB sleuths on the charge of cheating film producer Sanjay Khan, to the tune of Rs 66 lakh.
A team of the CCB police arrested Vijay Singh, the president, Vacation Clubs International Hospitality Limited in New Delhi on Thursday, while another team arrested Bart Pinto, the vice- president and Peter Gosh, the DGM, in Bangalore. The trio have been remanded in police custody for eight days, police said.
Agreement
According to the police, Khan, who owns a farmhouse near the City, had entered into an agreement with Singh’s firm in 2002 to secure new members for his (Khan’s) farmhouse.
Singh would get 30 pc commission for every new customer. Apart from this, the agreement provided for 8.5 pc commission on room rent and other expenses incurred by the customers at the farmhouse. The agreement expired in November 2008 and was renewed in March 2009.
Accordingly, Singh would collect money from new customers and deposit the same into Khan’s account.
The number of new members started declining due to recession and so also the customers’ visit to the farmhouse. Khan started demanding minimum guarantee, which was not agreed to by Singh. Finally, Khan terminated the agreement in June 2009, stated the police.
Singh closed down the office, collected his belongings, including records pertaining to accounts and went away with his staff. Khan went through receipts of previous years thoroughly and realised that Singh has cheated him to the tune of Rs 66 lakh.
Khan met the Commissioner of Police Shankar Bidari on August 11 and narrated the incident.
As per latter’s advice, he had lodged a complaint with Cubbon Park police. Singh has transactions all over the country, according to police.
