Indian tennis player Sania Mirza has credited her husband a Senior Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik for his commitment towards cricket, as Pakistan is set to clash against Sri Lanka on Monday, in a bid to book their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy Mirza said. “It’s a proud moment for all of us, for his mother, for his brother and sisters and for myself too. We are very proud of him of everything he has achieved.”
She added. “It shows his commitment to Pakistan and to cricket. I have always known him as someone with full of passion for playing and for representing his country.”
When asked how the couple manage to find time for each other, she said it is difficult to see each other often. Hence, the phone was the saviour for them.
Mirza said. “Lot goes into coordinating, phones really help us, We spend a lot of time apart. Obviously, being two professional athletes. I get lucky because in Australia as well, the Pakistan team was there when I was in Australia. Sometimes our schedules match and I had this week off, instead of going back to India or Dubai, I came here. So good change for me to watch some cricket as well.”
She also said that she wasn’t able to watch all the matches of the ODI she did watch some including a few Indian cricket team play-offs and that of Pakistan Vs. South Africa. Now she is expected to present in Cardiff to see Pakistan vs Sri Lanka match in the Champions Trophy.
