New Delhi, August 25: Replying to senior BJP leader Arun Shourie’s demand that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) should take over the control of party, the organisation on Tuesday said that its role was restricted to advising the party rather than involving in the politics directly.
RSS national executive committee member Ram Madhav said that Sangh’s duty was to advise BJP, not to do politics. There were already many members of RSS working in the party. Sangh will advise the BJP whenever the party wants, he added.
Meanwhile, the BJP has been weighing options on action against Shourie who let off a fusillade against the party leadership and virtually dared it to act against him.
Party sources said the course of action against Shourie could be decided against the backdrop of the swift action taken against Jaswant Singh who was expelled last week over his controversial book on Jinnah.
“The party has taken note of the utterances of Mr Shourie. It shall be responded to appropriately after discussions,” BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said here.
Attacking Shourie, BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said “the so-called writers were challenging fighters. The party is going through a phase of transition and will emerge stronger after such developments”.
