Sanction loans to flood-affected farmers: Babu

Avanigadda, October 13: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu has demanded the government to sanction loans immediately to farmers, small traders and vendors who lost their livelihood in the recent floods, besides launching relief measures.

Making a whirlwind tour of several flood-ravaged mandals of Avanigadda, Mopidevi, Challapalli, Uuyyuru and other Krishna river bund areas in the district today, he described the recent floods as `man-made devastation’, especially government’s failure and said that thousands of people had been rendered jobless and homeless as the floods had washed away all their belongings.

Criticising the Government’s negligent attitude in taking up relief and rehabilitation
measures even one week after the flood water had receded, Chandrababu Naidu demanded the government to announce a special packages for farmers by issuing fresh loans while waiving old loans, extend financial assistance to traders and vendors, issue three lakh LPG connections free of cost and distribute text and note books to students.

While covering majority of the flood affected areas in the district, the TDP supreme stopped his convoy at many villages and gave a patient hearing to the plight of villagers who lost their property and agriculture crop.

The TDP leader promised that their party would put pressure on the government till justice was done to the floodaffected people.

He said that had the administration not ignored the warning by the Central Water Commission (CWC) about the possibility of floods in Srisailam reservoir, the trail of destruction could have be curtailed to a large extent.Sanction loans to flood-affected farmers: Babu
