Sampath sore at Jana’s attitude, wants to quit party post

Expressing regret over the negligent attitude of his party MLAs, Congress Whip in the Assembly S A Sampath Kumar today announced he would tender resignation to his position.

Speaking to the media after adjournment of the House on Saturday, Sampath Kumar, who spoke on SC, ST Sub-Plan demand, lamented that the State government had not allowed him to speak on the SC, ST Sub-Plan as part of clarifications on Friday. He said the Congress members had failed to extend their support in mounting pressure on the chair to get chance to speak on the subject.

Sampath Kumar alleged that he has high respect at CLP leader K Jana Reddy, but the latter has failed to mount pressure on the chair in getting a chance to him to speak on the subject as part of clarifications. He said Jana Reddy used to ask the Chair in favor of Kalwakurthy MLA Ch Vamshichand Reddy for a chance to speak in the House, but the same Jana Reddy failed to do so in his favor. He also alleged that the Chief Minister signaled to the chair not to give a chance to him to speak on SC, ST Sub-plan as part of clarifications. He said the State government has succeeded in getting the Bhoodan Bill, which allows dacoits and encroachers to grab lands easily, passed in the House easily.

He also made it clear that he would not join TRS party under any circumstances. “The Congress gave me political birth. So, I will not join the TRS. Nobody should think I will join the ruling party”, he said. He wore a black ribbon on his neck in  protest against the hostile attitude of his own party MLAs. (NSS)
