Sambasivudu murder case: four surrender

Nalgulda, March 30: Four persons — Shakeel, Feroze, Abu, and Imram — from to the Old City of Hyderabad and claiming to have murdered Sambasivudu, former Maoist leader and polit bureau member of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), on Saturday night, surrendered to the police at Choutuppal police station, about 50 km from here, on Tuesday.

Two TV channels, which broke the news, showed visuals of the four persons travelling in a jeep, and claimed that they were taken to a secret destination. The persons were stated to have walked into the police station after telephoning the police that they were the killers of Sambasivudu and that they would surrender.

Unconfirmed reports said that they had also informed some media persons about their action. However, police denied the surrender.

No confirmation

Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar said it was yet to be confirmed whether or not the four were involved in the murder.

He said he would hold a press conference to announce the news of the arrest of the real killers, as he declared on Sunday night of doing so within three days.

Choutuappl Sub-Inspector Srinivas said the news of the four giving up in the police station was not correct.

In a related development, Ramulu, brother of Sambasivudu, alleged that the government itself was involved in the murder and there were four more killers.

He alleged that his brother and he were regularly receiving threat calls.

Nalgonda district TRS president B. Narender Reddy described the surrender of four as a drama staged by the government.
