New Delhi: Criticising Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav for supporting his brother Shivpal Yadav and criticising Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav from a public platform, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said the ruling party in Uttar Pradesh is least concerned about development of the state and more focussed on resolving their family disputes.
Speaking to ANI, BJP leader Nalin Kohli said as far as the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh is concerned, the entire focus seems to be about what is happening within the ruling family there.
“Their concern is not the development of Uttar Pradesh, not the law and order in Uttar Pradesh, not serving the people, but it seems to be focused about what are the disputes within the family and resolving that,” he added.
Meanwhile, downplaying the remarks, Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi earlier today said his advice should be seen as an ‘antibiotic’ suggested by a doctor during seasonal changes.
“Our party believes in democratic principles. There is only one person who is known as ‘Neta ji’ in the country, i.e. Mulayam Singh Yadav and he never talks anything that causes damage to the party. Being the leader of the party, he has guided the party members to work correctly as the assembly elections are approaching. As a doctor advises to have anti-biotic in the seasonal changes, similarly he has guided the party members to work according to the approaching elections,” Azmi said.
Mulayam Singh Yadav, yesterday came forward in support of his brother and cabinet minister Shivpal Yadav, who had threatened to resign, after he alleged corruption and involvement of some party workers and office-bearers in ‘wrongful acts’ of ‘land-grabbing and harassment of the public.’
“Shivpal is working very hard. A few people are against him. If he quits, then the situation for the party will become bad. Half of the people will go with him,” Mulayam Singh Yadav said in Lucknow while addressing his party workers on the occasion of nation’s 70th Independence Day.
Shivpal, a senior Uttar Pradesh minister, had on Sunday threatened to resign in protest against non-compliance of orders by officers and the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.(ANI)
