Samaikhya Andhra activists disrupt bifurcation meet, 3 held

Vijayawada, August 08: Three persons were arrested and others chased away with the help of batons by the police after pro-Integrated Andhra Pradesh activists disrupted a conference organized to seek support for the creation of Telangana in Vijayawada on Sunday.

The conference, organized by the Andhra Telangana Saadhana Samithi to enlist support for the creation of Telangana and Andhra states, was disrupted by Samaikhya Andhra activists.

The protestors stormed the Swantatra Samarayodala Bhavan in Vijayawada where the conference was being held and started to raise slogans in favour of integrated Andhra Pradesh.

Sensing that the situation was getting out of control, the organizers informed the police.

The police personnel who rushed to the spot tried to pacify the demonstrators, but their efforts went in vain. They had to finally resort to a mild lathi-charge to disperse protestors.

Three of the protestors were arrested.

However, to ensure that the organizers leave the Swantatra Samarayodala Bhavan unharmed, the police escorted the organizers out of the hall.
