Salwa Fatima to get grant for pilot training in New Zealand

Hyderabad: Minority Welfare Department has agreed to provide grant for foreign pilot training to Capt. Salwa Fatima, the only Muslim woman in India to hold commercial pilot’s license.

Secretary Omer Jaleel told during the Minority Welfare Committee meeting that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had already sanctioned the amount for training. He told that the aviation institutions within the country have some technical problems due to which the girl has decided to get training in New Zealand. The government will directly deposit the amount in the account of institution in which the girl will take admission.

It must be noted that Siasat played an important role in Salwa Fatima’s pilot training. She got the primary training thanks to the personal interest and financial support of Siasat editor Mr. Zahed Ali Khan.
