Salman Khan, Owaisi slapped with sedition case

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and actor Salman Khan has been booked under section 124A (sedition) and others of Indian Penal Code for making alleged objectionable remarks against the death penalty given to Yakub Memon.

As per TOI reported, advocate Sushil Kumar Mishra lodged a complaint against the duo for their remark against 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon was convicted by the Supreme Court.

The petitioner alleged that the statements of Salman and Owaisi are anti-national, as they have come out in support of a person who has been confirmed death penalty by the Supreme Court.

While, Salman Khan deleted the tweet afterwards and subsequently tweeted apologies and clarifications for the same, the case taken up by the court and will be heard.

“I had tweeted that Tiger Memon should hang for his crimes and I stand by it. What i also said is that Yakub Memon should not hang for him,” Salman tweeted.

“My dad called & said I should retract my tweets as they have the potential to create misunderstanding. I here by retract them.”
