Salman Khan appeared before a Mumbai Sessions Court today where he will be tried for culpable homicide over a 2002 hit-and-run case. If found guilty, he could face upto 10 years in jail.
The Mumbai Sessions Court had rejected his review petition on June 24, which was a huge setback to the actor.
The 47-year-old will now be tried for a fresh trial under the more serious charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Section 304 of IPC.
Till now, the actor had been tried for a lesser offence of causing death by negligence, the maximum punishment for which is only two years in jail.
11 years ago, in September 2002, the ‘Dabangg’ star was allegedly driving a Land Cruiser, which he ran over a group of people sleeping on the pavement outside a bakery in Bandra, which killed one person and injured four others. (ANI)
