Salma Khan’s “Wanted” in Rs 9 Crore legal barrier

Chennai, August 29: The much awaited action flick of Bollywood star Salman Khan, “Wanted” is facing a legal barrier, as the Madras High Court on Thursday directed the producers of the movie, including actress Sridevi, to deposit Rs 9 crore within a week failing which orders prohibiting them from screening the film will be in force.

“Wanted” is a remake of Vijay starrer “Pokkiri”, the movie is produced by Sridevi Kapoor, her husband Boney Kapoor and Surendra Kapoor.

Justice G. Rajasuria passed the orders on an affidavit filed by G G Photo Limited of its director Sushil Gupta, who has filed a civil suit for recovery of Rs.6.74 crore.

According to Sushil Gupta, the claims arouse out of assistance rendered and raw film stock supplied during the production of the film. He said in his petition, “All cheques, agreements and letters were duly signed and given voluntarily by the defendants.”

The movie is directed by ace choreographer Prabhu Deva who is making his debut as a director through “Wanted”, is also stars Ayesha Takia opposite Salman Khan and is slated to release on 18th September, 2009.
