Hyderabad, October 01: As many as 1,75,595 government employees in the Telangana region will not get their September salaries on Saturday as the drawing officers in eight districts are also participating in the Sakala Janula Samme since it began on September 13. Out of the total strength of 2,51,401 employees (1,99,656 regular and 51,745 contract) in the Telangana region, only 75,806 have been attending duty during the strike period.
“Till Friday, we did not receive salary bills of nearly 80 per cent employees in the Telangana region. They will not get salaries on Saturday. Even if they provide salary bills by Saturday, it will take another two days for them to get their salary,” said a treasury official.
“We have made arrangements to deposit the salaries of those who worked during the strike period. But it will only be for the period they worked,” finance minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy told TOI. However, the treasury and pay and accounts offices were closed on Friday, the last day of the month, indicating that the salaries will be delayed.
Out of the 1,46,185 teachers and lecturers in the Telangana region, as many as 1,34,642 are taking part in the strike while in the RTC, out of the total 66,946 employees, only 931 have attended work. With regard to the Singareni employees, who are used to getting bonus and festival advance along with their September salary, out of the total 62,241 employees, only 13,635 are due to get their September salaries by October 4 as their salary day falls on the 5{+t} {+h} of every month. With regard to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, out of the total 31,714 employees, only 7,161 are due to get their salaries.
