Salam Centre distributes 1000 copies of Quran at police stations

First time in the history of independent India an exemplary move was taken by Salam Centre with regard to propagation of Islam. Salaam Centre exhibited their books at “Quran For All Pavilion” at the 9-day All India Urdu Book Mela – 2014, (from January 4 to 12). Forest minister Mr. Ramnath Rai and local MLA visited Quran Pavilion and collected Quran Gift Box. They hailed the activities of Salam Centre.

Later Mr. Syed Hamed Mohsin called on police commissioner R. Hitendra and sought permission to distribute copies of the Holy Quran in all the police stations of Mangalore. Mr. Husain asserted that distribution of Holy Quran and Islamic literature will help in creating peace and brotherhood among the country men. It will also help in debunking misconceptions about Islam and Muslims. On this police commissioner R. Hitendra said ‘I permit you to convey this Book of Peace to entire police department’.

As soon as he got the permission Mr. Syed Hamed Husain distributed 1000 copies of Kannada translation of the Holy Quran in all the 20 police stations of Mangalore including women police stations and police commissioner head quarter.

Along with the copies of Holy Quran, seerat books like ‘Follow me’ and other books which debunk misunderstandings were also distributed.

It must be noted that Mangalore city of Karnataka state is well-known for communal tension. Hence this move to convey the message of humanity and debunk misconceptions of Islam is commendable.
