Saint who demanded Ram temple’s construction shifted to SGPGIMS

Lucknow: Saint Mahant Paramhans Das who vowed to go on fast until Ram Temple’s construction is initiated was shifted to a hospital after his condition turned critical on Sunday night.

He went on hunger strike since October 1 and was sent to Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow in the early hours of Monday by the Faizabad district administration.

SGPGIMS said: “He is currently in post-op ICU and his condition continues to be serious”.

Paramhans is a disciple of Mahant Sarveshwar Das of Tapasvi Ji Ki Chhawni. As soon as his reports of deteriorated condition and weight loss reached Lucknow, UP industrial development minister Satish Mahana reached Ayodhya to persuade him to call off his fast.

Though he persuaded Paramhans fro 25 minutes the saints present at the site refused to call off the protests.

“Doctors at the SGPGI are taking a proper case of Paramhans Das,” said Mahana who added that Paramhans told him he would end the fast only if the CM assured him of temple’s construction.

“The Modi government should bring an ordinance in the parliament to pave way for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. There should not be any further delay,” said Das.
