Hyderabad: Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal is all set to undergo a surgery on her right knee at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute in Mumbai on Saturday morning.
On Thursday, Saina was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad after a reoccurrence of the knee injury she suffered before the ongoing Rio Olympics.
While posting the details of her medical report on Twitter, Nehwal confirmed, “Surgery tomorrow morning at 6 am friends please pray for me.”
The 26-year-old had been playing with an injury throughout the tournament and had eventually suffered from a fat pad inflammation on her right leg.
The injury, which was also cited as the reason behind her shocking group stage exit at the Rio Olympics, hampered her on-court movement in the event, with Nehwal looking visibly uncomfortable during her last match against Marija Ulitina of Ukrain.
Saina, the bronze medallist at the 2012 London Games, suffered a 18-21, 19-21 defeat against unheralded Ukrainian opponent in a magnificent game of badminton at Riocentro-Pavilion 4 to bow out of the Summer Games. (ANI)
