Sai trust confers cheque powers on Ratnakar

Anantapur, April 07: Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust on Thursday delegated “cheque powers” to three of its members, SV Giri, V Srinivas and RJ Ratnakar.

The decision to entrust the trio with the authority was taken at a meeting, chaired by former chief justice PN Bhagawati, in Puttaparthi this evening.

Adopting a cautious approach, the trust members decided that each cheque should be signed by at least two of the three empowered trustees. The meeting, however, skirted the issue of the election of the chairman. In what appears to be an adhoc measure, the trustees agreed to chair the monthly meetings one after the other in turns.

The trust meeting came as a surprise as no prior official release was issued. It was only after the trustees issued a press release after the meeting that devotees came to know of it.

Sources said a proposal was made to discuss allegations being levelled against a trust board member for the past few days in a section of the media. However, it was turned down by the others on the ground that “this is not the time” for such a debate.
