Sai Baba temple chairman duped

Hyderabad, May 12: The chairman of Sai Baba temple at Dilsukhnagar was duped of Rs 30,000 by a person who identified himself as R J Ratnakar, nephew of Satya Sai Baba and one of the trust member of Sri Satya Sai Trust, Puttaparthi.

The trickster called the chairman over phone and asked him to deposit the money in the bank as his family members were in urgent need of the money.

According to police, the chairman of the temple at Saroornagar, G Mallaiah received a call around 2 p.m and the caller identified himself as Ratnakar.

“The caller told Mallaiah that his relatives came to Narketpally in Nalgonda district on some work and lost their purse in the railway station. The person gave an account number of a nationalised bank and asked him to deposit the amount in it,’’ Saroornagar police said.

Mallaiah deposited Rs 30,000 in SBI’s Dilsukhnagar branch in the said account number (30448860384). After depositing the money, Mallaiah tried to call ‘Ratnakar’ over his phone but it was switched off. Mallaiah then grew suspicious and made enquiries with the Trust at Puttaparthi and found that he was duped.

He immediately informed the police who registered a case of cheating and are investigating.
