Saffronists target VP Hamid Ansari for flaring communal unrest

NEW DELHI: Outgoing Vice President Hamid Ansari is being trolled on Twitter soon after he expressed his concern over “enhanced apprehensions of insecurity amongst segments of our citizen body, particularly Dalits, Muslims and Christians.”

In various interviews to media, Mr Ansari, whose decade-long tenure as the Vice President of India ends on Thursday, made these remarks in the backdrop of incidents of alleged “intolerance” and and lynching incidents in the name of ‘Gau-Bhakti  by self-proclaimed Gau Rakshaks, for which opposition parties have attacked the central government.

The 80-year-old Ansari on Wednesday said that there is unease and a sense of insecurity among the Muslims in the country, asserting the “ambience of acceptance” is now under threat.

In the interview on Rajya Sabha TV, Vice President Ansari referred to incidents of lynching and ‘ghar wapsi‘ and alleged killings of rationalists as a “breakdown of Indian values, breakdown of the ability of the authorities at different levels in different places to be able to enforce what should be normal law enforcing work and over all the very fact that Indianness of any citizen being questioned is a disturbing thought.”

Saffronists trolled him on on social media, here are some tweets abusing Hamid Ansari:

BJP worker Praveen Kumar Dikshit tweeted, “Hamid Ansari should have become a cleric of a madarsas, by mistake, he became Vice-President of the country.”

On the other hand, anchor and TV Journalist with News 24 channel while questioning Ansari’s policy, wrote, , ” Intolerance and Teen Talaq Par 10 Saal VP Rahe Hamid Ansari ki bhaasha kheti hai, Politics Mai Utharne Ka Irada Hai.”

Well, this is not the first time Hamid Ansari has to face such comments. Earlier, on the occasion of Republic Day in 2015, the Hindutva brigade trolls Ansari for not saluting the national flag; the VP was in fact following the protocol as per Section VI of the Flag Code of India.
Ansari has served as India’s ambassador to several countries and was India’s Permanent Representative to the UN. He has also been Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University.
