Ratlam: Hindutva outfit on Monday staged a protest in Ratlam’s Namli town against the allegation of dismissal of 20 students from a school over chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki jai’.
The saffron group approached the police demanding a case against the school. They also held a public meeting on Monday. According to them, the students were expelled because they chanted Bharat Mata slogan, quotes New18.
On the other hand, St Joseph Convent School has denied accusations. “We had the usual morning prayer on Jan 11 but soon after some students of class IX started raising slogans of Vande Mataram and also kept dancing,” MP Catholic Church Association’s spokesperson Fr Maria Stephen said.
Seeing the students disrespecting Vande Mataram, the teacher at the scene asked them to behave and warned them of strict action if they did not stop, Stephen added.
The administration also called in for heavy police deployment after sensing trouble.
He further clarified that students were neither dismissed from the school nor prevented from taking the exam as reported by media.
Bajrang Dal functionary Rajesh Parihar claimed that students were expelled and sought de-recognition of the school.
