Safeer Karim (IPS) booked for cheating at UPSC Mains

Hyderabad: Safeer Karim, a 2014-batch IPS officer, on probation was reportedly caught cheating while appearing for the Civil Services (Main) Examination at the Presidency Girls Higher Secondary School in Chennai on Monday. He was caught using a Bluetooth device to speak to his wife, who dictated the answers, said police.

Aspiring to become an IAS officer Karim appeared for the exam. He was serving as the Assistant Superintendent of Police in Nanguneri sub-division, a taluk headquarters in Tirunelveli district.

Karim resident of Kerala, has been taken into custody and charged under Section 420 of the IPC (cheating and dishonesty). A team of officers from Chennai will go to Hyderabad soon to take his wife into custody.

Karim has founded a coaching centre for the civil services exam, with branches in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Calicut, Bhopal and Hyderabad. According to Official sources, he may face disciplinary action, and can also be dismissed from service, as he was still on probation.
