Varanasi: BSF constable, Tej Bahadur Yadav, who was dismissed in 2017 after he posted a video online complaining about the food served to the troops, announced that he would take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking to media persons in Rewari, Haryana on Friday he said, “I will contest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi constituency as an independent candidate.”
Hindu quoted Yadav as saying, “I had raised the issue of corruption but I was sacked. My first objective will be to strengthen and eliminate corruption in the forces.”
Yadav who had uploaded a video on social media in 2017, complaining that poor quality food was being served to the troops in the icy, mountainous region along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, was sacked on the charge of indiscipline.
According to a report published in an Urdu newspaper Tej Bahadur, while addressing the public in Varanasi, took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his ‘mein bhi chowkidar’ campaign and said it’s a battle between chowkidars. Calling himself as real chowkidar he said, it’s real chowkidar vs fake chowkidar.
