Main Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Monday requested Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan to immediately sack the State Ministers whose names figured in the confession statements of liquor syndicate members as having received bribes.
A delegation of TDP legislators, led by their chief N Chandrababu Naidu, met the Governor in the Raj Bhavan in the afternoon and submitted a memorandum to this effect.
“Since the Chief Minister failed to take any action against his colleagues, you have to intervene and remove the tainted Ministers from the Cabinet,” the delegation told Narasimhan.
Later talking to newspersons, Naidu said they have submitted material evidence to Narasimhan against the Ministers who were said to have received kickbacks from the liquor syndicates.
“I haven’t seen such a weak and inefficient Chief Minister in my political career. He is afraid of taking action against the Ministers as it will destabilise his Government,” the Leader of Opposition said.
Earlier in the day, the TDP stalled Assembly proceedings on the same issue.
Meanwhile, reacting to Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao’s allegation that he (Naidu) possessed huge ‘benami’ (illegal) properties, the TDP leader dared the former to prove the charge. “I will give away such property, if any, to KCR if he can prove it.”
The former CM hit back at Rao, saying he was hand-in- glove with YSR Congress President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. “What Jagan says today, KCR reiterates tomorrow. He speaks one thing in the morning and another in the evening.”
