Sachin’s Ferrari disappears from garage

Mumbai, April 01: Sachin Tendulkar’s famous Ferrari was stolen from his building La Mer at Bandra last night. In the city’s most sensational car heist, the fancy car has vanished from the building’s open garage.

The theft was discovered at 11.40 pm, by a building watchman. He then informed the family about it.

According to the Bandra police station Inspector Abdul Narayan D’Souza, Sachin has filed a complaint.

“We are investigating,” D’Souza said, though he would not divulge details and added, “It is too premature to elaborate.”

The theft is more shocking because La Mer has an elaborate security system given that it is Bandra’s most prestigious buildings with a sprinkling of celebrity residents.

Aishwarya Rai used to live there before her marriage (her family continues to reside there) and ad guru Prahlad Kakar is also a La Mer resident.

Meanwhile, Nitin Dossa, executive chairman, Western India Automobile Association (WIAA), expressing shock, said, “Sachin must have an anti-theft device on his car. The WIAA has an etching on glass, which makes it very easy for the authorities to trace the car. In fact, why just Sachin? I think all car owners must have this etching on their cars.”

The gleaming red Ferrari, a 360 Modena had been gifted to Sachin in 2002 by race ace Michael Schumacher on behalf of Fiat for equalling Don Bradman’s record of 29 Test centuries.

Sachin could not be reached for comment.
