Sachin Pilot’s uncle shot in UP

An uncle of union minister Sachin Pilot was Tuesday shot at in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur town, leaving him critically injured, police said.

Ashok Kasana, 60, was sleeping in his cattle yard in Nizampur locality when two persons scaled a wall and barged in just prior to dawn.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Panchsheelnagar Abdul Hameed told IANS that Kasana caught hold of the two intruders and raised an alarm.

One of the intruders opened fire with a .38 pistol while the other stabbed Kasana with a knife, after which both fled.

The victim’s sons rushed him to a hospital in Ghaziabad. His pancreas, intestines and liver have suffered gunshot wounds. After a six-hour surgery, Kasana was stated to be in serious condition but out of danger.

“Once he is in a position to record his statement, we will do so and then try to identify the assailants and arrest them,” the SP said.
