Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy on Monday said that the police were investigating in an angle whether Sunday’s communal riots at Madannapet and Sayeedabad areas were deliberately engineered for a specific purpose.
Speaking to the media after the Chief Minister’s review meeting on Law and Order situation in the city in the Secretariat, Sabitha said that special teams would be formed to inquire into the clashes between two groups at Madannapet and Sayeedabad. She also said that stringent action would be taken against those responsible for the incidents. The police have identified some mischief mongers and took them into custody. They also arrested some suspicious persons and interrogating them, she added.
Sabitha maintained that the police would take decision on lifting of curfew in Madannapet and Sayeedabad areas on the basis of factual situation. The situation in these areas was totally under control and peaceful. As the police made elaborate security arrangements, 10th class students in these areas attended the annual examination without any fear, she added.
The Home Minister said that compensation would be paid to the victims of clashes at Sangareddy and Adoni towns. (NSS)
