Hyderabad, January 08: A delegation of TRS leaders and Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodanda Ram met Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy and sought lifting of curbs on media coverage of Telangana protests and withdrawal of forces from Osmania University. The TRS delegation comprised Etela Rajender and KT Rama Rao.
The TRS leaders contended that as media personnel were not allowed to cover the protests on the OU campus, several rumours were doing the rounds, causing avoidable tension. They also pointed out that positioning forces in the university was against the Supreme Court guidelines.
Sabita Reddy told them that the state government had nothing to do with the curbs on media coverage since they were imposed by the National Broadcasters Association. She said she would consider the demand for recall of police forces.
