Special Secretary Minority Welfare Andhra Pradesh Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal is striving to reacquire the Waqf lands under the possession of the government. Before the formation of Waqf Board, the then government had taken custody of thousands of acres of Waqf land in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Today just 10 to 20 rupees are paid as compensation of those valuable lands.
Addressing a press conference Special Secretary Andhra Pradesh Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal revealed these bitter truths and said that he had identified such lands in Andhra Pradesh and will soon send letter to all district collectors asking the government return the land which the government had acquired before the formation of Waqf Board in 1954. Thousands of acres of such land has been identified in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
