Even as the IPS Officer Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal’s term as Special Officer ended yesterday, Telangana government has not taken any decision regarding appointment of new Special Officer Waqf Board. However S M Iqbal will retain the post of Commissioner Minority Welfare. It must be recalled that after the term of Waqf Board ended, the government had appointed Shaikh Mohammed Ibqal as Special Officer.
The regional party of the city is mounting pressure on the government opposing the extension of Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal’s term. Religious personalities along with some public representatives yesterday called on chief minister and appealed to appoint new special officer. Objecting the modus operandi of present Special Officer, they demanded appointment of any officer belonging to Telangana.
