A delegation of all-parties’ farmers’ associations’ leaders today called on Major Irrigation Minister Sudarshan Reddy in the Secretariat and urged him to consider the issue of approaching Supreme Court against the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal verdict on sharing of surplus waters of river Krishna.
The Rytu Sanghala leaders told the minister that the State would suffer colossal loss due to the verdict of Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on sharing of Krishna surplus waters. They urged the minister to specifically pay attention to the height of the Almatti dam in Karnataka and initiate adequate steps to see that State did not turn into a desert. The Rytu Sangham leaders also submitted a memorandum with six demands to the minister.
After a patient hearing, Sudarshan Reddy reportedly assured them that he would call for an all-party meeting besides taking the issue to the notice of the Prime Minister. (NSS)
