Russian held for stealing mobile phone at IGIA

New Delhi: A Russian national has been held at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here for allegedly stealing a mobile phone of a flier.

The incident occurred on April 9 when a passenger, identified as J Kushwaha, reported to CISF security personnel that his cell phone has been stolen from the ticketing area of the airport.

CISF men on-duty immediately checked the CCTV recording of the area and found that the Russian, identified as Tarasov Daniil, had picked the said phone and rushed to the Metro station nearby. He had apparently come to book an air ticket.

Yesterday, when Daniil arrived at the airport again to board a flight to Bishkek, he was identified by a CISF personnel and a team intercepted him before taking the aircraft.

A senior Central Industrial Security Force official said the stolen mobile phone was recovered from Daniil and he was later handed over to Delhi Police which has informed the Russian Embassy here about the incident.
