“Pakistan is one of the key countries in the fight against terrorism. In this regard, Russia, of course attaches great importance to cooperation with Pakistan,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Wednesday.
This year earlier in January, the Russian Army’s Commander-in-Chief Oleg Salyukov announced that Russian ground forces will be holding its first ever military exercises with Pakistan in the coming year.
Last month a Russian delegation visited Pakistan and discussed about the sale of military hardware and agreement to enhance defence cooperation between the two countries.
The two countries have already agreed upon the delivery of four Mi-35M helicopters and are in serious talks about Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets. These two deals made a historic change in Russian policy towards Pakistan.
