Mumbai, August 05: After playing an ultra rich boy in MP3 – MERA PEHLA PEHLA PYAAR, Ruslaan Mumtaz is now enacting the role of a poor boy in today’s release TEREE SANG. In the film he is shown to be the son of Satish Kaushik, a lower middle class auto-rickshaw driver. Since even in real life he hasn’t experienced such hardships, it must have been difficult getting into the skin of a poor boy, isn’t it?
Agrees Ruslaan, “Yeah, it was quite some task to actually get into the character because it was not a usual college dude role. Also, since I play a auto-rickshaw driver’s son in the film, I couldn’t have worn the best T-Shirts or Jeans. I had to look really shabby. Basically, I couldn’t afford to be anywhere close to being a hero because audiences would have immediately said ki yeh kis angle se rickshaw waale ka beta lag raha hai!”

In its small way, his experience working in MP3 – MERA PEHLA PEHLA PYAAR came handy.
“Since I played this rich boy in MP3, I just studied that character in detail and decided that I would play someone who is completely opposite of him. I had to have a different look, personality and the language. I also dug my wardrobe and extracted some of my really old clothes that I ultimately wore in TEREE SANG”, he reveals.
These were not the only challenges that he faced in TEREE SANG. He also had to play someone who was much younger than his real age.
“I was 24 when I was working on the film whereas my character in the film was just 17”, he smiles, “I had to revisit my past and remember the kind of boy that I was when I was younger. At times it used to get a little embarrassing when I remembered certain instances. I guess I did manage quite well eventually in spite of all the challenges that came my way.”
