City based National Institute of Rural Technology (NIRD) is organizing its 11th ‘Rural Technology Mela-2013’ from November 8 to 13, 2013 at Rural Technology Park, NIRD campus, Rajendranagar, every day from 10 am to 9 pm. Entrance is free to the general public. The popular national mela had been attracting farmers, rural technocrats, farm mechanization promoters, NGO’s an all stake holders engaged in rural development for over a decade, NIRD director general Dr. M. V. Rao said in a press release.
All buses running to Rajendranagar are being extended to the mela venue in NIRD campus during the period for the convenience of visitors and the general public. About 200 stalls, 150 from other states and 50 from within AP state will be setting up stalls. For further details 09848780155 and 09848924111 may be contacted. Travel fares will be reimbursed to participants representing organizations. Cultural programs will be organized every evening during the 6 days.
Dr P Siva Ram, RTP project director, said that hundreds of artisans will display at the stalls an amazing array of products including handicrafts, handlooms, ready-made garments, Khadi and village industries products, medicinal and aromatic products, leather goods, toys, decorative items, processed food, coir products, silk wood carvings, brassware, fashion and tribal jewellery.(NSS)
