Rupee slips 15 paise against dollar

Mumbai :The rupee today lost another 15 paise to 67.50 against the dollar in early trade at the inter-bank foreign exchange market due to appreciation of the US currency overseas.

Sustained demand for the dollar from importers too weighed.

Dealers attributed the rupeeā€™s weakness to dollar gains against other currencies overseas and a lower opening in the domestic equity market.

Yesterday, the rupee had snapped its 6-day winning spree by falling 27 paise to close at 67.35 on fresh demand for dollars from banks and importers amid a fall in crude oil prices.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell 188.30 points, or 0.76 per cent, to 24,470.93 in early deals today.
