Ruling National Conference leader short dead in Srinagar

(Bashir Assad) In yet another incident, Gunmen shot dead a ruling Jammu and Kashmir National Conference activist in civil lines are here on Friday.

After facing tough challenge from the unidentified gunmen in South Kashmir where about 60 elected panches and sarpanches have resigned from their posts due to threat perception, the state Friday witnessed one more incident in capital city of Srinagar in which a ruling National Conference worker was short dead in broad day light out side a mosque where he was going to offer Friday prayers.

Abdul Rehman Ganai 65, son of Muhammad Shaban Ganai who was Block President of ruling National Conference for civil lines block of Amira Kadal was short at near Natipora here this afternoon. Ganai was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Police a registered a case and has started investigation.

Pertinently, in South Kashmir ’s Pulwama and Shopaian districts warning was issued to elected panches and Sarpanches to resign from their posts, even a few panches were attacked due to which dozens of elected local body representatives resigned from their posts.

Earlier on May23, police defused a 35 kg explosive near Chanapora in city outskirts after it was detected planted in a Maruti car near Chanapora bridge. Only the other day J&K police claimed to have busted a module by arresting five persons involved in the act.
