While the High Court pulled up the RTC workers continuing the strike, the TRS government is yet to take a decision on withdrawal of the stir by making an announcement of a rise in fitment.
Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee comprising four other ministers today submitted a report to the Chief Minister suggesting an increase in fitment to 37 from the existing 27 per cent against the 43 per cent demand. The Chief Minister has reportedly agreed to offer about 39 to 40 per cent of fitment and a statement is likely by night, it is learnt.
Narsimha Reddy presented the report close on the heels of High Court passing strictures against the striking RTC crew besides giving them a deadline to call off the stir or face music on May 13 by 10.30 am. With this, the government was trying to buy a little time to come out with a statement on its decision. The committee asked the employees’ unions to be available for a possible meeting with KCR, it is learnt. The report is said to have details pertaining to burden on exchequer in case of hiking the fitment either at 37 per cent or at 39 to 40 per cent respectively. It is expected that KCR is likely to increase two to three per cent more than what the sub committee suggested according to information. (NSS)
