RTC plans to operate more buses

Hyderabad, October 06: State Road Transport Corporation Managing Director Prasada Rao on Wednesday stated that the officials have been asked to take assistance of local police to prevent stoning of buses in various districts.

Talking to media persons after emerging out of review meeting convened at Secretariat under chairmanship of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, he said that the officials have been directed to run buses with local police assistance to prevent attacks on buses and as part of passengers’ security. He said that the Chief Minister has asked to operate more number of bus services in various arterial routes to reduce passengers’ inconvenience.

Admitting that the general strike has affected the corporation image badly, he said the corporation has been suffering a loss to the tune of Rs 8-9 crore per day due to employees’ participation in the general strike. He said that 800 buses were running in the state capital on various routes.

Prasad Rao said that discussions have been going on with employees who participated in the general strike, to withdraw their agitation. He expressed confidence that the discussions would yield result and the employees call off strike and resume to their duties soon.
