A.P. S.R.T.C has recently raised the rates of bus tickets. It is now preparing to over burden the parents of the students by enhancing the rates of bus passes with effect from 1st June 2013. It is said that Govt. compensates the remaining amounts of the bus passes of the students to A.P.S.R.T.C. Now RTC is taking steps to recover from students one third of the concessional rates. A.P.S.R.T.C has submitted proposal to the Govt. to enhance the subsidy given to the student. Govt. has accorded permission for this. RTC used to give concession to the student to the larger extent for their bus passes. It used to collect only 10% of the bus fare from the students. Now it will provide only 66.7%. In this way, the students have now to pay 33.3% to get their bus passes. By doing this APSRTC has overburdened students to the extent of Rs.200 crore. When the new rates of Bus passes will be introduced, it is likely that a students’ unions might agitate. The enhance rates will be operative from 1st June 2013.
