Hyderabad, December 26: Not only the police, but also the APSRTC buses were gearing up to protect themselves from the possible angry protests and vandalism by the Telangana agitators after the submission of report by Justice Srikrishna Committee by end of December.
After December, most of the RTC buses in the State, particularly in the twin cities may have iron grids coverage to wind glasses. The man behind the idea was the APSRTC Chairman, Mr B. Prasada Rao. The IPS officer was keen on fixing iron grids to the buses like the police vehicles. The RTC authorities have reportedly decided to fix iron grids to 6,000 buses belonging to the twin cities bus depots. The decision has resulted in the Rs 25 lakh loss to the RTC due to the damage of the glasses by the Telangana agitators.
Fixing of iron grids to some buses in the city was completed. Mainly, iron grids were being set up to the front and back glasses of the RTC buses. It would be a tough task for the protestors to damage the glasses of the buses, which was generally first task of enraged protestors.
Will the idea of the RTC authorities give positive result is a million-dollar question? Time will only provide an answer to the question.
