RTC management is exploring the possibilities of increasing the bus fares. It is understood that this exercise being worked out in the wake of the recent strike in Seema Andhra Region which caused heavy financial losses to RTC. It has therefore being decided to put this burden on the passenger. It is also expected that the services of contract employees will be dispensed with. The officials of RTC are of the opinion that except increase in the bus fares, there is no other alternative left. Due to Seema Andhra agitation the collection of APSRTC was reduced to nil since no bus was operated during the two months agitation. This has resulted a big gap between the revenue and expenditure. The proposed hike cannot be less than 10-15%. It is also likely that the passengers may have to bear the burden Re. one per Km.
