RTC bifurcation will be completed in three months: Mahender Reddy

Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy on Saturday announced that the process of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) would be completed within three months.

Addressing the Managers of 94 RTC Depots of Telangana State at RTC Kala Bhavan in Musheerabad here, the Transport Minister complained that Telangana is being denied 50 per cent share in bus permits by the Andhra Pradesh. This has been causing loss of about Rs 1.5 Cr to Rs 2 Crore every day. Further, he said increase in diesel prices by Rs 2 per litre in Telangana despite descrease in the global prices of fuel was causing heavy loss to Telangana RTC. He said steps were being taken by the State Government to overcome those losses.

Mahender Reddy informed that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has so far released Rs 250 crore towards arrears and Rs 150 crore for purchase of new buses. He said that the demand of employees for a hike in salaries on par with other employees of the State Government was also under consideration.
