RTA Offers Refreshments to Commuters

Dubai, August 08: The Public Transport Agency (PTA) at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) are providing water, juices and refreshments to the passengers, according to a media release.

The campaign was introduced last month, PTA officials said.

Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, director of buses at Public Transport Agency said a number of companies had collaborated with the Agency in the campaign.

“In the name of the RTA, I would like to thank those companies which made effective contribution in bringing success to this campaign, namely: Aquafina Co. (Pepsi) which offered 187,200 bottles of mineral water over one month, Jima Co. (19,000 bottles of mineral water) for two weeks, Al Ittihad Juices Co. (1,008 bottles of juices) over one week, Sterilac Milk Co. which offered 3,200 bottles of liquefied yoghurt),” the official said.

“Public Transport Agency is always keen on providing various means of comfort to the public, including public bus commuters, in cooperation with several private, government and semi-government organisations in launching a number of campaigns that aim at making mobility on public buses a pleasant and smooth experience,” the official said.

The Agency plans to have more than 2,500 buses by next year. The current fleet consists of standard, double decker and articulated buses.

“This step is a true manifestation of the cooperative links of these companies with the RTA towards realising its vision of providing safe and smooth transport for all. This is envisaged in adopting various means of comfort for public bus commuters and encouraging various community segments to use them.

“This will undoubtedly assist in easing traffic bottlenecks and cutting back the massive number of private vehicles on Dubai roads,” Abdullah Yousef Al Ali said.
