New Delhi: RSS has proposed that Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Aurangabad to be renamed as Bhagyanagar, Karnavati and Sambhaji Nagar respectively.
RSS has pitched that Hyderabad to be renamed after goddess Bhagyalakshmi, Ahmedabad be named after a Hindu king Karan Dev I, of Solanki dynasty and Aurangabad after Chhatrapati Sambhaji.
RSS is of the opinion that the name of a place is tied to its “history and culture”.
According to a Hindustan Times report, a Sangh functionary told the daily, “We use the old, historic names of cities and not the ones that were given by invaders. As a free country, we should take pride in our culture.”
Last month, BJP-led Haryana government renamed Gurgaon district to Gurugram.
