RSS summons BJP Ministers, agrees to support Yogi in 2019 elections

Lucknow: Making its way into the Politics after guiding the Saffron Party, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has now assured to support UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath if he decides to replace some Ministers from his BJP government, according to the sources.

Yogi is reported to have had a meeting with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and his deputy Bhaiyaa Ji Joshi on Tuesday. He later drove to RSS’s office in Lucknow -Vishva Samvad Kendra where he met Dattatraya Hosbale a close associate of RSS and BJP chief Amit Shah’s, Hindustan Times reported.

Adityanath who is likely to lead BJP from Uttar Pradesh in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections has submitted his government’s performance card to RSS for its
approval and support in the upcoming elections.

These visits paid by Yogi and his two deputy ministers to RSS leaders are ahead of Shah’s UP visit in the first week of July where the BJP party is considering doing changes according to RSS’s advice by appointing a leader from the backward class to equate the balance of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party.

A close source said Yogi’s poor performance in UP and BJP’s defeat in three Lok Sabha by-elections where the opposition united against the BJP, were the key issues the Sangh party wanted to be addressed.

“Just as the possibility of several sitting MPs being replaced in UP are high, similarly one might see a strategic expansion of Yogi ministry. While some ministers may be axed, a few might be accommodated in the organisation to balance caste combinations,” a BJP leader said.

The Yogi government has 47 ministers and it could appoint 13 more.
UP BJP General Secretary and also the key man of RSS in BJP’s UP unit Sunil Bansal, deputy chief ministers Maurya and Dinesh Sharma accompanied Yogi in his meeting with RSS leaders in Lucknow.

The RSS has previously summoned two deputy CM to its Lucknow office in Bansal’s presence in April.
